Addison Circle Park Vision Plan
Background
On February 27, the Council approved a Professional Services Agreement with OJB Landscape Architecture to create a Vision Plan for Addison Circle Park. The Vision Plan is a recommendation of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan adopted by the Council in 2019, which identifies the need to plan for the redevelopment of Addison Circle Park and the Conference and Theatre Centre in conjunction with the Transit Oriented Development (TOD).
October 10 Status Update
At the October 3 Addison Circle Park Vision Plan Community Meeting, the consulting team presented an exciting update on the park’s future. The plan presented was shaped by the feedback of 450 community members through meetings, surveys, and handouts, as well as valuable input from an Advisory Committee, appointed by the Addison Council. The vision for the re-imagined Addison Circle Park is to build on the park's success and innovation, creating a welcoming, vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable space that enriches the lives of all residents and visitors.
With the theme Authentically Addison, the plan prioritizes robust activities and events, including an art walk, dog park, picnic grove, games court, beer garden, tech grove, playground, and flex lawn, alongside space for food trucks. Other key goals include enhancing the tree canopy to achieve Level 1 Arboretum certification, supporting local businesses with retail opportunities, and ensuring operational excellence through a dedicated security and maintenance team.
You can find the presentation here(PDF, 84MB) and watch the meeting here. Please share any feedback with Parks and Recreation Director Janna Tidwell at jtidwell@addisontx.gov.
The plan will be presented to the City Council at its November 12 meeting for their feedback.
