The indoor pool at the Addison Athletic Club (AAC) was re-plastered in 2019, just before the facility’s larger renovation. During that renovation, it was discovered that some of the electrical lines serving the pool equipment did not meet code requirements. Because of this, power to the pool equipment was unavailable for an extended period.

Without proper water circulation, the pool water became stagnant, which led to staining and damage to the plaster surface. Before reopening, the pool was acid-washed twice to improve its appearance. While this helped, some discoloration and surface wear remained.

Over time, the plaster has become pitted, making the pool more difficult to clean and allowing dirt and algae to collect more easily. This has increased the level of ongoing maintenance needed to keep the pool in good condition.

Although pool plaster typically lasts between seven and ten years, staff recommended resurfacing the pool a bit earlier than planned due to this early wear. As part of the FY 2026 budget process, the Town Council approved $105,500 to complete this work.
